Update Issue - Not a valid data directory
Issue: During the update process (will happen in both Phase1 and Phase2) you get a message saying “Not a valid data directory”
Notes: The update requires the machine to have access to all data directories specified for the update process.
Resolution: Verify that all data directories to be updated are valid. You can verify this by:
- Open “My Computer” (or “Computer” Vista or Windows 7), open the location where the data directories to be updated are stored, and verify that you can open each of the data directories and see files inside the folder. Verify the files can be seen, try the update again.
- Verify the mapping is consistent with the mapping of all other workstation.
- If on Microsoft Windows Vista or Microsoft Windows 7, verify that User Access Control (UAC) is turned off
- Click the Start button
- Click Control Panel
- Click “User Accounts and Family Safety”
- Click “User Accounts”
- Click “Turn User Account Control On or Off” (on Windows Vista) or “Change User Account Control Settings” (on Windows 7)
- Verify that “Use User Account Control (UAC) … “ is UNCHECKED (on Windows Vista) or the settings bar is at “Never Notify” (on Windows 7)
- Click OK
- Close the Control Panel
- Restart the computer and try the update again.
